Long johns as pants!

Will you be wearing your "long johns" as pants this winter? judging by what's new on the runway (H&M, Topman, and even balmain) the answer would be (mmm...) YES! Strolling in the Left Bank quarters in Paris, or some areas in London with groups of axpermantali young European audience, reveals a clear trend emerging in men's fashion - it's the Long johns, minus the pants!

so, how was YOUR weekend?

Mine was f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s.
I saw the movie "Inception" with Leonardo DiCaprio, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a highly skilled thief is given a final chance at redemption which involves executing his toughest job till date) and i'v spent my time with the best company a man can hope for (mmm... and the lovely 16 yr old dog too, of course)

Here are some pics of "Pinch" - the sweetest (& oldest) pooch in the world.

Lanvin "Heart" H&M.
"The beauty of our business is that we can do things and then move on," Elbaz tells WWD. "This project with H&M was about being relevant to a moment. I have always said that we are not a cool brand. It's not about being cool or not. We try to be relevant. I'm not going into the cool club. It's not my address."

Vogue Paris October 2010

Lara Stone by Mert & Marcus:
The 90th anniversary issue of Vogue Paris drops this month and in typical Carine Roitfeld form, the edition is jam-packed full of controversial photo spreads, 276 pages of ads, and Lara Stone’s breasts. Ha.

Haute Couture for men. Gimmick or Gorgeous?

Haute Couture is a legally protected name for womenswear design houses who meet exceptionally high standards of tailoring and who produce bespoke clothing for individuals, using high quality fabrics and design techniques.

Will a ‘new wave’ of distinguished Haute Couture pave the way for future menswear generations like it has done for womenswear for over 140 years? Perhaps such a bold move would have a self-clensing affect on the market as weaker brands are forced out as others try to force their way into such an ‘elite club’?

PRADA, WHY THE SOUR FACES?

The "old maid" trend on the latest runway shows could only mean one thing: Unsexy is back! on Vol.8 (160g magazine) they have announced this Fall/Winter collections to have some "Geek chic", but i think there must be a librarian out there to prove them wrong.

MARIO TESTINO / UK VOGUE DECEMBER 2010

Fifteen supermodels all got a double page spread in the 'Star Girls' editorial styled by Lucinda Chambers. The girls/women who UK Vogue editors consider to be the best models since the year 2000-2010 include: Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Sasha Pivovarova, Lara Stone, Daria Werbowy, Georgia May Jagger and Natalia Vodianova - all wearing something gold. Only claudia was wearing white - because her hair is already golden.

GOTH meets COUTURE?

The words Goth and Gothic have had many, largely unrelated meanings in the past, and so does haute couture." Jennifer Mason said: "being goth is the ability to find the art where art seems to be lacking; to find the light in the darkness and embrace it for all its worth..." Sounds familiar? karl lagerfeld said almost the same thing on his Chanel Spring/Summer 2011 Womenswear collection.

What better way to combine couture & goth then this? LOL

Exclusively for this blog: "Tailored Women's Suit Jacket"

Designer: Mark Goldenberg / the "Tailored Women's Suit Jacket"
A bigger look - same sketches:

At the turn of the twentieth century tailored suits for women, consisting of a matching or coordinated jacket and skirt, were popular outfits for office work, afternoon social visits, travel, and leisure activities such as walking. For the first few decades of the 1900s, tailored suits were made up of loose-fitting waist-length or hip-length jackets and ankle-length or floor-length flared skirts. Jackets often were adorned with buttons, fabric belts, and sailor collars, collars resembling those worn by sailors in the United States Navy, with narrow front folds and a large rectangle at the back of the neck. They were worn with shirtwaists, tailored blouses. The suits of this era often were made of many yards of heavy material. The skirts were so long and full that they picked up dirt from floors and outdoor paths.

French fashion designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel (1883–1971) had the greatest influence on the styling of the tailored suit for women in the 1920s. Her suits featured short, straight skirts or skirts with soft pleats. The Chanel jacket ended at the hip and had a square or boxy look. The neckline was collarless, and the fabric around the neckline and front of the jacket was trimmed discreetly with narrow braiding or ribbon. The jacket occasionally had buttons or fasteners but was worn open. Tailored blouses often were worn untucked with a fabric or leather belt at the hipline.

ZEIT MAGAZIN Deutschland 40/40 P.1

There is hardly a more appropriate way for one of the world's most famous supermodels to celebrate a landmark birthday. Claudia Schiffer has marked her 40th by shooting a staggering 40 covers for the November issue of Zeit Magazin, which is celebrating the same anniversary this month. The images were shot during a two-day shoot in London. As well as the Zeit shoot, she has been creating her own fashion line. According to fashion industry title WWD, she is set to launch the range with a party next month, although her debut collection won't hit stores until next winter. She also attended a number of catwalk shows during the recent fashion weeks in London, Paris and Milan, including Salvatore Ferragamo, and the star-studded Chanel show.
